A wordsmith needs a desk like a blacksmith needs a forge. 

My writer’s desk is home to works-in-progress, midnight novel ideas, Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and characters, current-reads, writing resources, half-finished and mostly-edited stories, poems, life thoughts, glasses, and a cup of tea. There’s a lot here, but I can think of no better place for all my creative projects than my writer’s desk.
